Abstract

The technology of road construction using cement concrete pavement has been used in the world for over 100 years, and it has found application in countries with the most different climatic conditions. For example, cement concrete pavements are typical in Canada and the United States, countries that are very similar in climatic conditions in Kazakhstan.  The purpose of our study was to analyze the effectiveness of cement concrete roads during operation by the example of cement concrete roads in Kazakhstan.

The research was carried out using standard methods and verified equipment based in an accredited laboratory. Achievement of the set tasks was realized in the conditions of field tests with the use of nondestructive control methods.

The results of the authors' work are the identification of the causes of warping of roads due to thermal expansion of concrete slabs; flaking of the concrete surface and the appearance of transverse and longitudinal deep cracks on the surface of the road base as a result of foundation subsidence or due to poor drainage of surface water.

The theoretical and practical significance of the work: based on the analysis of the obtained results of the survey, recommendations for the prevention of defects of cement concrete roads and their care have been developed.
