Abstract

The use of remote sensing data and GIS-technology is the most effective way to determine the distribution of solid waste in city and the dynamics of development over time. In work researches on definition of changes of the Ust-Kamenogorsk SMW landfill area for the last 20 years from 2002 to 2022 were carried out using satellite images. For the last 20 years the area of the landfill SMW increased from 7,03 hectares to 34,38 hectares, that testifies that the landfill has been used up for a long time and has an adverse effect on the environment. Thus, space monitoring allows more effective on the scale of cities region and country to consider the problems of SMW landfill by and take appropriate measures.
